Share your story to me, maybe a photo of the object too, and it’ll be a big help for a painting I’m working on. Hopefully, everyone’s contributions can amount to 100 objects to fill a 4 x 3 ft canvas. I will treat your input with utmost confidentiality upon request. At present, my idea revolves around collating your narratives in the form of objects, laying them out on canvas as icons, and treating them as patterns similar to those of the taka, a folk art that originates from Paete (Laguna, Philippines). As commentary on the diverse yet deep-seated national identities that we assume in the contemporary context, my piece will attempt to craft a tangible Filipino spirit.Hope you’ll send in your stories to abcmarasigan@yahoo.com until March 27 (with the subject title “My Story”)! Thank you very much, and watch out for the finished artwork on artistbynecessity.tumblr.com!

Know your dolphin captivity history.

Been a part of this. Now that I know better, I am never going to any facility keeping a dolphin captive.

My thesis feature on Interaksyon.com’s article on Ateneo’s Information Design Exhibit.
——-
Only God can make something beautiful out of a very unfortunate event.
For all those who know what happened, I lost my thesis (AS IN EVERYTHING) the third week of November—when I was about 80% done. Stuff I worked on since the first semester… All gone.
Just wanted to share how this is a testament to God’s amazing grace, goodness, mercy, power… and how He works for all the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28), through people (Sir Lech Enrico Verzosa Velasco, Anna Oposa, Nix Cue Nicolas, Green Fins, Save Philippine Seas, Rex Rieta Villavelez, Bo Mancao, Dennis Bryan Bait-it and Sam Craven), and through equipping us with all that we need and more.
If God loved me, why would He let this happen?
God is Sovereign and He is good. His ways and thoughts are beyond mine (Isaiah 55:8).
God provides. (Matthew 6:25-34).
So, in between bouts of crying, God gave me supernatural strength and grace to start again from scratch and finish right on time to execute them in Cebu the second week of December. He blessed me and my dad with the sighting of FIVE thresher sharks (super rare occurrence) and one devil ray on our FIRST dive. And then… He even gave me free time after to enjoy cos I was back in Cebu again two weeks ago for Sinulog with friends. :)

About

Jenica is a mermaid. While she regularly takes trips to the seas (having been a certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver for almost seven years), now she is stuck on land finishing her last semester of college pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, major in Information Design. Ultimately, she wants to glorify Jesus, her God and Savior.
